Thanksgiving

So since I have time I'v decided to jot down some things I am thankful for this year. Sometimes I think I spend too much time just getting through the day and although I may be happy and thankful, I dont actually stop to recognise what is making me thankful and really say a prayer at that moment of thanksgiving which we are asked to do.

Ps. 92: 1
1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

Eph. 5: 20
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

1 Thes. 5: 18
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Mosiah 26: 39
39 And they did admonish their brethren; and they were also admonished, every one by the word of God, according to his sins, or to the sins which he had committed, being commanded of God to pray without ceasing, and to give thanks in all things.

So here are some things I am thankful for:
Family, no matter how messed up it is
Health
Friends
A Job
The Singles Ward
My Scholarship for school
My Talents
A Testimony of where I come from, Why I am here, and where I am going
Heavenly Father and the direct communation with him through Prayer
The Scriptures
Being born in this age with technology

Random

So here is an update on my life. Brittany, the girl in the pictures below as an Egyptian, is living with us. Right now she is in the guest bedroom til my grandma comes down to stay with us like every year in December, then we will be sharing a room. I must say this has been a good change for me and forcing me to become 'social' which is a good thing. We have decided to have a sleepover party after next weeks YSA dance and invite a bunch of girls over. Needless to say it will be interesting and Im guessing it will also be lots of fun!
I started my job last week and it has been going good. So far I am only working 5 days a week, 3 hours a day which still gives me enough for gas and then some so I'll keep with it. The only thing is now I have to actually manage my time better. Yesterday I had a day off of work and no school til that night so that whole day I basically wasted on small things like going to Subway, planning a sleepover, making invitations, and baking a cake I wasnt even going to eat. The whole day passed me by and after school I was so flabergasted and paniced about my school work I needed done, that I couldnt even focus on the school work! So today I might have made a mistake but I am skipping my morning classes of stats and humanities so that I can do my psych paper which is due tonight and study for the psych test since after work today I have to go straight to school. Ugh! This weekend I need to straighten my life out, both physically and mentally. Clean my surroundings and organize it so that my thoughts will have time to be organized and make a new plan for studying for finals coming up!!!

Halloween 08 Fun!

Ok so its been awhile but I finally have pictures from this Halloween! So for the Singles Ward Spooktacular we could enter into a costume contest if we made it out of specific materials. So the materials were 1 yard of Tulle, Black trash bags, Bendy Straws, Duck tape, Caution tape, and Bubble wrap. So I made a Fairie costume and here it is.

Everyone loved it and there was only 1 other person to do the contest so of course I won because Im just so awesome like that! I won a $10 gift card to Regal Cinemas and a 1st place ribbon. The whole night was a blast and I really got to bond with the people there, lol finally. We played tug-a-war which was so much fun and a scavenger hunt and 'name that creepy halloween song' game which of course my team won! This years Halloween was very fun and here are some more pictures of fun times at Party City looking for Pirate decorations. Well more like goofing around lol.

"Hello, This is Buddy the Elf, Whats your favorite color?"

So after searching for a job since February (!!!!!) I have finally found one. It is the perfect job for me! I am now a Santa's Helper at the Florida Mall! I will either be a Photographer or Greeter. While I am working there this season I can also be checking the stores to see if they will be hiring this coming January. I am sooo excited and think this will be so much fun! I wrote down my schedule which is pretty weird because of school this semester and wrote down I wasnt available Sundays and they still hired me!
Lately I have become more spiritual in my life due to the wake up call I had at the beach and also the beauty of this Fall. I've started reading my scriptures at night, praying before bed, Ive found my patriarchal blessing, and truely listening with my heart not just my mind in church. Well just last night I asked finally for help in looking for a job and here it is. I dont know if I would have asked earlier if I would have gotten a job or if its just the right time. But then again I dont have to know that, all I need to know is that he has helped me now which I am grateful for. I have found that through this new awakening within myself I have instituted self motto's. One being "Just Do It" leave fears behind and enjoy yoursef, challenge yourself, have confidence. Also, "For My Soul Delighteth.." in the world around you, the people, nature, and your blessings. And it is more important to be there for your friends and family above all else, material things fade and evenetually are unimportant but those times with your loved ones are priceless and worth more than anything.

Pollyanna

I saw that the movie Pollyanna was on TCM, I watched the one that was made in the 60's with that one actress with that one accent that later was a teacher on Saved By The Bell... you know, that one. I also learned that Walt Disney personally directed this movie. I laughed and I cried, I didnt expect the ending and was surprised and was crying like a baby. The whole town was there and everyone was effected by Pollyannas attitude. I like the idea of the Glad Game and will now implement it into my life. I am glad that I am not paralyzed, I am glad I am loved by my friends and the people around me (especially those who were so worried about me, Im glad that you all care so much, I love you all), I am glad my parents are prosperous, and I am glad that there is a prophet today who guides me personally. I love life! And now I also love Pollyanna and cant wait to read the book!

Monday Sept. 29th 2008 I Almost Died

So its taken me a couple of days to get myself together to write this. I guess I'll start with Monday morning, me and a group of friends from church decide to go to Cocoa Beach. It was Phil's birthday and Brittany wanted to relax so the beach was a perfect idea. Over the weekend did I not only make my whole body sore from ultimate pilates but also from a trip on Sunday night when I rolled my ankle and have the hugest weirdest bruise on my thigh lol. But anyways moving on... So I reluctantly agree to go to the beach bc hey its the beach!! Woohoo Par-tay!
On the way Phil gets a warning for driving 12 miles over the speed limit just feet from the beach parking lot. Hmm weird (warning!). We get to the beach and get into the water where Phil finds out that he still had his cell phone in his trunks pocket, there goes his cell phone (warning!). So I get into the water the sun is shining and the water is cool and brilliant. The waves are huge and I see all my friends go ahead and go deeper into the water, like really far out. Now Im not one to stray too far from the shore due to my paranoia of sharks and sea creatures undiscovered or seen beneath the ocean top. But they yell that there is a sand bar out there and so I think..."OK!". As I start going out I realize that I can no longer touch the bottom of the floor and now have to swim. I dont like doing this and I never do (warning!) I keep swimming then comes to mind all the shows from Shark Week which state that sharks are most prevelant by sandbars and when you see birds gathered together, kind of like this sandbar and those birds over there (warning!). But Im already more than half way there so might as well "just do it", my new slogan.
So for some reason it takes alot of hard swimming to get to the sandbar but I do it and the waves there are HUGE about 3 feet and very strong. Dave, who isnt a great swimmer, gets pushed off the sandbar and so do I. So we try to swim towards it again. But strangly the waves are really strong and as much as you swim forward it seems as if you never move (warning!). After being pushed all the way back to the shore (side note: at this time Brittany get outs to sun tan) I get frustrated and these waves are not going to stop me from getting back onto that sandbar, its become a competition between me and the ocean. Everyone else has body boards but I dont like to use them because then your really not swimming or enjoying the water if you just lay ontop of it. So this whole time me and Dave are laughing and getting close but not close enough to the sandbar. Its been quite a long time and Im getting tired swimming against the current for what was probably 30 minutes.
The waves are getting bigger and my smile is slowly fading (warning!), competition is now anger and the ocean was playing dirty. No matter how hard I tried to swim I just couldnt get anywhere. I start to panic and now understand that we are in a rip current and we decide to go back to shore. All the while the ocean starts to change now the waves are coming at us more frequently and from both sides. The waves are the biggest I have ever seen at almost 6 feet and quite frightening. I remember that the best way to get out of a rip current is to swim parallel, but whats the use of that information if the ocean wont let you! A local surfer was nearby and said we should get out (warning!), easier said than done. Dave had a body board but I didnt and everytime a wave came I was straining to keep swimming. The local surfer motioned me to come to him and I was fighting for my life. He was maybe 20 feet away and it took me just about 20 minutes to get to him. It was in those last couple feet that it became harder and harder to find the top of the water. The waves twisted my mind around to where I didnt know which end is up and my lungs were burning from lack of oxygen. I was so close to just giving up when I feel a arm pull me up. He told me to get on his surf board and he would push me when a wave came to get me to the shore. I was so tired and the beach looked so far away.
Just like he said the waves took me to the shore and now all I could do was sit and watch my friends struggle also in the rip current. A woman on the shore said that the sirfer had saved another woman yesterday and his wife was worried about him and wanted to know what he was doing. I told her the rip current was strong and he was saving us. His wife comes out furious at the risk he was putting himself into and I couldnt blame her. He was risking his life but I do know that he had saved mine and was saving my friends. She goes to call the Fire Rescue which is apparnetly ocean rescue also. Time passes and thankfully eventually everyone is out. We all thank him and go to our spot on the beach where Brittany has been this entire time oblivious to the fact that her friends were fighting for their lives.
Apparently I also learn that the surfer was extremely drunk and reaked of alcohol which I didnt know, havent been around many drunk people or slcohol to know what it smells like. A Jeep comes racing down the beach past us and finds out that we were the ones caught in the current. He was actually kind of disappointed that he didnt get to go after us becaude he hasnt had much excitement lately on the job lol. Helicopter comes out and the Diver deployed which he radioed. He said we were very lucky because the trench before the sandbar was from 9-10 feet deep where we were. As much as I am almost thrilled that I could have been on the news or taken up by the helicopter I realize that by the time the Rescue team arrived, I would have been dead. Even with the adrenaline rush, it was just enough to get me within inches of the surfer. None of my friends that were there really understands how close I was.
After all the sign that we all had, none of us did anything about them. Heavenly Father had to use a drunk surfer to save us because of our own stupidity and ignorance. I know that this experience has deeply effected me. I went the whole day in shock joking around, came home and burst out crying when relateing the story to my mom. The next day I go to school, go through the motions and I can feel myself pull back into not talking. Wednesday comes and I was supposed to go to Sears for an interview with my friend but I canceled because I just wanted to sleep. I slept til 3pm on Wednesday, thats not normal. I know that its probably only temporary but I still dont know how to deal with this. I worked so hard to be confident and outgoing and this one event just shut me down to what I was before.
What I do know is that God has a plan for me and obviously doesnt want me going anywhere and I was saved to live my life. So thats exactly what I have to do, I have to use this life and do something with it. I have to help others and progress. I have to most definitely repent because I certainly dont want to leave this world like this. I could have had a tombstone that said this.

Ingrids Birthday Fun: Pirate Pool Party and 1920's with Al Capone

This weekend after much stressing and planning of Ingrids Birthday I finally got to reap the benefits of it all. Saturday afternoon we spent a day at Juli's apartment pool which is beach style, meaning the pool has no stairs but gradually declines like a beach, so cool and fun! The theme was Pirates! We found really cute Pirate duckies at party city and cool knick knacks to decorate with. Also Jasem decided to use his boredom and creative streak to make Ingrid her own flag...lol and as much as it is cool its also very creepy.

So we swim and mess around until its time for cake! Jasem again did this, it was the first time I relinquished my cake baking for someone else to do and think that he did a good job. Ingrid ended up licking the frosting off of the Skeleton which made some great cannibal pictures :D

After the pool party we go to Ingrids house to change into our costumes and surprise her by telling her to put on her flapper outfit. Now due to the extreme of this outfit she was very scared to go out in pubic and had no idea what we were planning...I love messing with peoples minds hehe. So we all get ready and Im wearing a black dress I had bought a couple months ago (when I had money) which was on sale ($180 to $30 woot!) and never found anything to wear it to. So I bought some fringe at Jo Anns and my mom sewed it to the hem creating a great 1920's inspired flapper dress! So simple yet drastic, I spent the rest of Friday night wearing it around the house and twirling watching it sway and move. I swear I really am almost 20 lol. So we drive and drive all the way to 192 next to Old Town, Capones Dinner Theater Show! We came here because of the great 1/2 off discount...which we later realize was for a good reason.

As we are taking pictures out in front of the building we have tourists staring and some actually take pictures while we are posing for our own cameras and these people actually ask if they can take pictures with us! So of course we say "Sure!" because its how we get our kicks. Im pretty sure that was the highlight of everyones day not just mine, we are perfectly at our happiest when dressing up and taking pictures. I sure do wish we would have charged them, at least enough for the tolls home lol! We enter and see the actual characters talking with the guests and they start joking with us.

So their dinner is Itallian buffet style, very yummy lasagna but long line. The show starts and right away in the first song we can tell its going to be a long night. I dont mean to be picky but.... I would have paid $10 extra to see the Pirate dinner show if I knew how bad this was. Not everything was bad though, I could tell that one of the girls was sick and therefore her deep alto voice was really weird and not projecting and the squeeky blonde was not good at singing with her character voice. But we got through it and if anything it was a place to wear our outfits finally and just have fun. Id recommend the show to anyone who is not Musically inclined, its too distracting if you are. But still much fun and worth it.

Fall Semester and Life as I know it :D

So I know I havent posted in a very long time but just to let everyone know my teeth are pretty good and healing well. Woohoo its over! And on to new and more important things... well maybe not very important since life has decided to deny me of excitement at this time, but oh well I make the best of what I have, and that is people who love me.
This is my second year at Valencia and I am taking Fundamentals of Biology, Elightenment & Romanticism Humanities, Statistics, and Abnormal Psychology. Going to school in the morning and at night due to Valencias scheduling this term. THis makes my job search even harder since I know have weird midday hours. Im still looking and still hoping that anything will come up! But classes are going good and Im pretty happy with all of them but maybe a little nervous about Humanities because the teacher is not what I expected. But Im sure that if I study and come out of my shell in class and speak out on discussions I'll get on her good side if that possible. So my new major lol is going to be Hospitality! Im looking at UCF's Rosen College of Hospitality, which is located by Universal Studios. Its a long and time consuming drive but then I can work at one of the theme parks and also go to school there and it will still be cheaper than going away to school somewhere else.
After taking a new member (Brittany) to the Singles ward 2 months ago, I have been going ever since. Starting that first Sunday with the help of the sociable Brittany we met a group of singles which were very fun to hang out with. Through all of this I have decided to once again transfer my records to the College Park Ward....again lol. Second times a charm! I was very hesitant because I have grown to absolutely LOVE my calling inside and out and just did not want to give it up! But I need to get out there and mingle with other people my age which means putting my trust in the Lord to take me where he wants me to go.
Well thats all for now, more to come later once I have more time...which should be soon since I have no job. But I leave my limited audience and all of cyberspace with this closing message from the philosophies of Angelas mind and also from General Conference talk. "The phrase "For My Soul Delighteth," should really be emphasized in our lives more. I have made it my personal goal to conciously embrace the things that make my soul delight. For my soul delighteth in the cool morning dew. For my soul delighteth in the Spirit which is so boldly and powerfully present in Music. For my soul delighteth in the love that Christ and HEavenly Father has for me. For my soul delighteth in the feeling of comfort I get from reading the scriptures. For my soul delighteth in the brilliance of color on this earth. For my soul delighteth in my soul delighting!"

Jasem's Birthday!

So just Saturday was my friend Jasem's birthday when he turned 19! Woohoo yay for Jasem! So in the morning we went to Titusville the National Seashore beach next the NASA and had tons of fun. I forgot to put sunscreen on my back so that is the only place I got burned. But burn it did! But its calming down, instead of screaming at me it is now just wimpering lol. When we first get into the ocean Kira's boyfriend calls out to us informing us of the baby shark he has just seen next to him. At that we all jump out of the water screaming and running away. After 5 minutes of calming down and being reassured that it wasnt even big enough to nibble on a finger we go back in. So we go in and later I found a jelly fish inches away from me,Ahh so another time we all jump out and freak out but we went back in. The tide was really strong which made the waves Amazing! We all were being beaten down by the waves but it was tons of fun so we just ignored bruises. Then we come back and everyone helps me prepare a nice Greek dinner for Jasem while he is at an hour meeting at his work at the nearby Radisson hotel. We made Tabouleh, Mediteranean Salad, Hummus, Chicken Kabobs, Greek Salad, Pesto, and 2 kinds of Cous Cous. Never again I am ever going to make that many plates for a dinner! But it was good and everything was delisious if I do say so myself! So we all then get together and have him sit down while me and Ingrid and Evee present to him his big musical skit of Jasems life, "The Color Jasem : The Musical". After that he opened his presents and one of which was ImagineIff... the game he had told us about a couple days earlier that he really like, It was lots of fun. and then we played dress up!

New Calling!

So in october of 2007 I moved in with my sister Amy and transfered my records over to the Singles Ward. Once I started going to the Singles Ward I thought that it was cool but weird since I didnt know anyone. Well weeks pass and I just always felt so out of place, so I decided to go back to the beautiful University Park Ward where I had previously had the calling of Music Director (choosing and conducting the hymns in sacrament). Once i got back into my home ward again I felt at peace but something was missing. I didnt have a calling, so I waited for the Lord to direct the Bishopric to the right calling for me. And I wait.......and I wait.......and wait......It took 7 months for me to get a calling. 7 loooong months of just attending church and listening. Finally what I had been waiting for, Brother Aplanalp looked at me and pulled me to the side, in my mind Im thinking "FINALLY!!!" but I wasnt nervous because I knew that whatever it was, the Lord would help me fullfill it. So he asked me if I was willing to take up my old calling as Music Director and this time also Music Chairman!!!! I was grinning from ear to ear I was so thrilled! Before when originally called as Music Director my mother was given Music Chairman which was fine because I was still in Highschool at that point not so confident in how I would be. Music Chairman is in charge of basically all music training and events in the ward, providing special musical numbers every month, scheduling chior dates every month, and approving song choices before it is sent off to the Bishopric for approval. I am so thankful for the opportunity Heavenly Father is giving me now. The opportunity to help the ward grow in their own individual musical talents and grow spiritually in sacrament meeting. I also know that with his help I can do this and I can do it well, because I have a knowledge of the power of music and its incredible form is a gift from God that needs to be cherished and exercised. It can bring in the spirit faster and more precise than any other forms of communication. So watch out University Park because Im going to find your talent and help you bring the spirit into the ward and your own heart.

Yay!!

"Godly Goodies"

So lately me and my friends are thinking more about our future and how much we are losers with no clue what to do. A Fashion Designer, Doctor, and the rest of my friends have already commited themselves to Musical Theater and plan on making that a career. Well lately they have all tried to think of "back-up" careers for reality sake. I have been a floater and thought that i could just go through my AA with ease taking the basics and I will just find out, by some miracle God would smack me with my Major.....now that seems less likely and a little too simple. So one option my friend Evee has brought to my attention for raising money (since I am unemployed) is to make goodies and sell them online. She says that poeple start off that way and eventually become really big businesses. And apparently Im a wonderful Mormon baker who makes the best chocolate chip cookies they have deemed "Mormon Cookies", and my moms home made bread deemed "Mormon Bread". The thought is that I make some classic baked goods with cool names, and hopefully have not been stolen from the food channel, and sell them. Start small and grow, the title of this production is "Godly Goodies : a mouthful of heaven". Yay Im excited!!

My Life As I Know It

So as you can see I havent posted in .... Forever, well alot and nothing has benn going on. Well this will be an Intro to get you all in check with my life so far so that future posts will be up to date! So where to start, I am going to Valencia Community College and liking it alot. I just finished my first year and am soo glad that I passed Algebra with a B!! I've been taking my required courses for my AA and think I might have found my major. I want to Major in Psychology and take Music classes on the side (since there is no Music Minor *sadness*). The plan is to finish my AA at Valencia while i figure out my Major and then go to a state college to finish it off. Well the thought was to go to FSU which would be awesome! But lately that has seemed to slip out of my reality so the next best thing is UCF which is closer and has a good relationship with Valencia and an expanding Psychology department. I know that things will go the way that they are supposed to so Im letting God take the wheel on my educational future because I have no idea what Im doing or where Im going. My sister Becky moved to Nashville Tennessee for a Psychology Research/Human Resources/Foster Care job? She loves it and is finally finding a place she can explore and spread her wings. Paul is living with Amy in her apartment over in Winter Park so that leaves me home alone with my parents and 2 extra bedrooms empty. I am the youngest of 5 kids so me being all alone makes me understand how being an only child is like. I dont think I can live alone lol its just too boring by myself I might go crazy! The good thing is that my best friend Kira might be moving into Becky's old room within the next month. That would be so wonderful! And tons of fun living with a friend. I have been having a hard time trying to find a job since February. The temp agency had found a job as a mailroom clerk at Ocwen Mortgage Bank and that was good and paid very nice. However I didnt have the experience they asked for so I was let go after 2 weeks. I was very disappointed and hurt because that was the first time I was fired from a job but the good thing is that now I am less picky in taking a job. Im deperate and I think I just needed to have a slap in the face to realize that I really just need any job I can get lol. I also have been given a calling in University Park Ward finally. After going to the Singles ward and then back home I havent been given a calling, it took them 7 months but now i know that it was totally worth it! But I havent been called so Ill tell you all later. hehehe! And I know what your probably wondering about, No, no guy in sight yet thankfully I can focus on school and life (*psst* tell me if you see anyone for me!). So Ill leave off there with this "Hi everyone!".

I Have a Blog :D

Yay this is so cool, now I can up date everyone on my Single College Life which when I actually think about it now is a little depressing. lol Well anyways Im here to stay!
