So in october of 2007 I moved in with my sister Amy and transfered my records over to the Singles Ward. Once I started going to the Singles Ward I thought that it was cool but weird since I didnt know anyone. Well weeks pass and I just always felt so out of place, so I decided to go back to the beautiful University Park Ward where I had previously had the calling of Music Director (choosing and conducting the hymns in sacrament). Once i got back into my home ward again I felt at peace but something was missing. I didnt have a calling, so I waited for the Lord to direct the Bishopric to the right calling for me. And I wait.......and I wait.......and wait......It took 7 months for me to get a calling. 7 loooong months of just attending church and listening. Finally what I had been waiting for, Brother Aplanalp looked at me and pulled me to the side, in my mind Im thinking "FINALLY!!!" but I wasnt nervous because I knew that whatever it was, the Lord would help me fullfill it. So he asked me if I was willing to take up my old calling as Music Director and this time also Music Chairman!!!! I was grinning from ear to ear I was so thrilled! Before when originally called as Music Director my mother was given Music Chairman which was fine because I was still in Highschool at that point not so confident in how I would be. Music Chairman is in charge of basically all music training and events in the ward, providing special musical numbers every month, scheduling chior dates every month, and approving song choices before it is sent off to the Bishopric for approval. I am so thankful for the opportunity Heavenly Father is giving me now. The opportunity to help the ward grow in their own individual musical talents and grow spiritually in sacrament meeting. I also know that with his help I can do this and I can do it well, because I have a knowledge of the power of music and its incredible form is a gift from God that needs to be cherished and exercised. It can bring in the spirit faster and more precise than any other forms of communication. So watch out University Park because Im going to find your talent and help you bring the spirit into the ward and your own heart.
Yay!!

Hi, Angela. I don't know if you remember me. I was friends with Becky and Amy back in the day when we were Goldenrod Ward! I found your blog on Margaret's link list. :)
I just have to say that this posting was really inspiring. I'm totally impressed with your amazing attitude about music and callings. It makes me want to have a better attitude. I was reading and thinking, "Maybe I should quit whining about always having music callings!" You are awesome. Way to go! (And good luck as Ward Music Chair. You'll do a great job!)
